Roles & Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of relationships with plant personnel at assigned client facilities. This includes pursuing project opportunities, scheduling and planning regular inspections, outages, turnarounds, responding to client inquiries and assuring overall satisfaction with CATSI’s performance and product.
- Write estimates and proposals.
- Assure you and your crew are prepared for and understand each day’s tasks, goals, hazards, and equipment needs before arriving at client facility. This includes preparation of project documentation, gathering and testing of all safety and inspection equipment needed, and going over roles and responsibilities thoroughly.
- Oversee daily housekeeping. Make sure client facilities are left how we found them each day.
- Assure daily and weekly coordination and communication of work plans with plant contacts, contractors and mobile equipment suppliers.
- Perform inspections of plant assets from various vantage points that can include aerial manlifts, scaffolding or crane baskets to document and photograph locations and extent of deficiencies encountered during inspection.
- Assure all limits of inspection are met, that sufficient data and photographs have been taken to build inspection report, and that any scope requirements that can’t be met are documented and communicated to client promptly and effectively.
- Proper and qualified use of non-destructive testing equipment by yourself and your crew including calibration and updating of logs for equipment in your possession.
- Use existing CAD drawings or create sketches in the field to help convey locations and characteristics of deficiencies identified.
- Assure quality of inspection reports being delivered meet client expectations and CATSI’s standards.
- Complete project closeouts, review reports with clients at completion of projects.
- Mentorship and commitment to the inspectors working under your care.
Requirements:
- 7+ years applicable experience in inspections or similar fields.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Effective budget and schedule management.
- Clean, legible handwriting and organizational skills
- Computer literacy including Microsoft products and ability to work off a computer or tablet in the field or in the office.
- A valid driver’s license.
Educational Expectations:
- High School degree or equivalent required
- Technical degree and/or applicable certifications preferred.
- Willingness to pursue company sponsored continuing education, including industry certifications, is encouraged and will benefit the advancement of your career.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- While performing duties in the field, employees will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery
- While performing duties in the field, employees will be exposed to extreme heat and cold.
- Employees will be expected to work at heights, including more than 100 feet.
- Employees will be expected to operate and work from aerial work platforms.
- Employees must have good eyesight and ability to speak and hear clearly.
- Noise levels are typically moderate and area appropriate hearing protection will be carried at all times.
- Daily work activities involve regular walking, standing, bending, climb ladders and stairs, often at heights and over prolonged periods of time.
- Employees may be required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential job functions.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Local work: Steel Mills in Valparaiso / Chicago area / Marathon's Detroit Refinery
- Inspecting: Walking working surfaces, rust under insulation, possibly light API (not required) NDE, training provided
- Participate in planning and preparing for field work; create field packages including forms, project documents and drawings that you will need during inspections as well as any equipment that day’s work may require.
- Assure all inspection and safety equipment, including personal equipment, is accounted for and in good working condition at beginning and end of each day.
- Assist with housekeeping. Make sure client facilities are left how we found them each day.
- Communicate and coordinate daily and weekly work with plant contacts and other contractors including participating in planning meetings, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and Lockout Tagout
- Perform inspections of various plant assets from various vantage points that can include aerial manlifts and scaffolding to document and photograph locations and extent of deficiencies encountered during inspection.
- Proper calibration and use of non-destructive testing equipment
- Use existing CAD drawings or create sketches in the field to help convey locations and characteristics of deficiencies identified.
- Participate in the preparation of inspection reports to be delivered to customers.
- Proactively develop strong business relationships with your plant contacts and build your expertise and decision-making skills in preparation for the next phase of your career as an Inspection Specialist.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience is required
- TWIC Card required
- Must be able to operate Manlift
- Must drive own vehicle
- Willingness to travel. This position could travel in the future for 2 weeks at a time in various locations. Travel reimbursed/Per-diem at GSA rate.
